We’ve been participating in independent reading for over a month now…tell us the name of the book you’ve been reading, as well as what it is that you are enjoying about it. Would you recommend it to others? Finally, choose a passage from your book that you find particularly interesting and include it in this post–also, tell us why you chose that passage.
Thanks,
Mrs. Styles

I am reading How Do I Love Thee. I love this book because it is very interresting. It is also sad. The passage I like the most is part of a poem. It is ”I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears of all my life! And, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death.” If you like romantic books read this one!

The name of my book is called Damage. It is about a school who has a football team that is not very good intill they get a new coach. I would recommend this book to other who like football. My favorite passage from the book is “it’s all yours.Your hands rise, fingers spread, ready to feel the firm scrape of the football, ready to pull it to you, ready to tuck it safely in.
But the ball bumbles against your fingertips. it lurches away, and that beautiful spiraing pass ends its life in a series of ugly bounces the field.
then there’s just a football lying untended on the grass, just that-and your empty hands” I chose this passage because it sounds cool to me

The name of the book I’m reading is called “Demon In My View”. What I enjoy about the book is that it is full of drama that anyone would face besides vampires thinking of whether to kill someone because they know to much or to turn the human into a vampire so they can write more story’s about the true lives of vampires. This book I would say is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone because it isn’t old and it gives an example of modern day vampires, or humans who think they are vampires. A passage that I found interesting is when everyone is afraid of the main character because she has a vampires aura and makes the students uneasy around her even a whitch named Caryn is afraid of her. I’ve found the passage very suspicious thats why I like this passage.

In my book that I am reading called, Guys Read. It is about a hole bunch of authors writing alot of short stories about guys. This book has short stories in it and poems. It is a funny book to read. The one poem I like in the book is Guide for Guys By Douglas Florian. That poem is real funny. And one story i like in it is called The Truth about the World By LLoyd Alexander. It is about a boy who gets a girl to go with him to the dance. But towards the end he hurts himself so he couldn’t go. But than after he said he couldn’t dance anyways. This book will make you laugh so read this book when you get a chance.

Well Stargirl is the book im reading right now and so far its is a great book. Its a book that represents being differen’t.I really like this book only because people end up changing, like she said in the book “my name is something I Wear, like a shirt. It gets worn, I outgrow it, I change it” that simile is intresting only because its kinda like me I get bored of being the same person so I change like percings, clothes, and then alittle, my certain personalities that I think don’t work anymore. But Stargirl intends on doing somthing simular. I Recumend this book to others because its real life, people change and somtimes you have to exsept it!

I’ve read Every Visible Thing by Lisa Carey, it’s about a family whos eldest child, Hugh, ran away 5 years before and never returned. The parents seem to not care for their 2 remaining children, Lena and her younger brother Owen, so they both make friends who have a bad influence on them. I really liked this book because I could relate to Lena and the way she felt about her parents, home life, and the new people she met. Basically what every adolesent experiments with, drugs, boys, and new friends. While Owen, 10 years old, questions his sexuality which becomes dangerous and convinces himself Hugh is his guardian angel. I can’t relate to him but i enjoyed reading about his experience. I would recommend this book to all teenagers because theres a good chance you’ve gone through some of the same situations or felt the same way about something.

I am reading Stargirl and I like it. I enjoy the funny seens such as when Cinamin is poking around in Leo’s hear. Yes I would recommend it to others. I really liked the section about when Cinamin was cleaning out Leo’s ear. I chose this passage because of a couple of reasons: one because I like animals I and because it was so funny. The sensation must have been strange after all, how many people do you know that has the opportunity to tell about a rat digging around in his ear.

The book I’m reading is Fallen Angels. I thought it was O.K., but I like books that that are more about modern things. This book was about the Vietnam War. THIS BOOK WAS ALSO VERY LONG. Don’t read it unless you are interested in Vietnam and have a few month to read it.
